The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that Salah said sorry to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the controversy from his recent interview.
The Incident
He was omitted from a key Champions League match after criticising the club and claiming his relationship with manager had broken down.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, please accept my apology.’”
The manager has chosen not to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the player.
Moving Forward
Jones insisted that the dressing room atmosphere was unchanged. “He was the exact same Mo, his demeanour was positive and it was business as usual,” the midfielder explained.
The midfielder also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “I understand there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
On-Field Response
Liverpool's form have stayed unbeaten in the period after the situation. He feels the forward's comments were not intended to destabilise the squad.
“If passion has boiled over, it’s always been from a desire to win,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re building chemistry, playing well and starting to win games.”
