The Grave Allegations The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021. One senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.” Scope of the Police Inquiry The charges follow what police called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley. The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January. List of Offences Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences comprise: Fifteen counts of sexual assault. Seventeen counts of penetrative assault. 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen. 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen. One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
