Stateside performer Pat Finn, who featured in popular TV shows such as Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed at the age of 60.

The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles, California on Monday after undergoing cancer treatment beginning in 2022, according to media reports.

"Pat Finn never met a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his family shared in a statement.

They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

A Notable Career on Screen

His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He also had a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.

He played the part of Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, depicting a host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

During the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of well-known programs, including:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight series from 2011 to 2018.

His film credits include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

The actor was seen in a couple of episodes of Friends as Monica's love interest Dr. Roger.

Off-Screen Life

Away from his television work, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find anyone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he posted publicly.

The actor is survived by his wife Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
